PF's unique model empowers local chapters with the responsibility to determine how 100 percent of their locally-raised conservation funds will be spent. Whether it's through improving habitat, informing the public about land management or educating future generations of hunting enthusiasts, conservation is the underlying principle in all we do at the grassroots level of our chapters all the way to Washington, D.C. when we fight for strong conservation policy.
Creating, restoring and maintaining habitat is a constant battle. Closing in on CRP General Signup Deadline

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever remind farmers, ranchers and landowners that the deadline for the current Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) general signup is Friday, August 27th. This CRP general signup is the first since 2006 and with a future CRP general signup yet-to-be announced, represents the single best wildlife habitat improvement tool available.

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever announce Ted Welsh of Lima, Ohio, as its new Farm Bill Biologist for Allen, Putnam, Paulding, Van Wert Counties. Created in partnership with the Ohio Division of Wildlife, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and local Pheasants Forever chapters, the position will provide conservation and land-use consulting to area landowners – and just in time for the new Conservation Reserve Program general sign-up.

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever announce Eric Sytsma as its new Farm Bill Biologist covering Iowa's Mahaska and Poweshiek Counties. The position, created in partnership with Pheasants Forever, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, the Vermeer Foundation, Brownells and Rain and Hail Insurance, will provide conservation and land-use consulting to area landowners – and just in time for the new Conservation Reserve Program general sign-up.

I can't think of a single factor that has changed the character of upland bird hunting on the High Plains as profoundly as the implementation of the Conservation Reserve Program. And it's hard to imagine federal policy that addresses complex matters of farm belt economics, wildlife biology and sportsman satisfaction concluding with a program satisfactory to everyone.
